It reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from Alan Watts, “We do not ‘come into’ this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree. As the ocean ‘waves,’ the universe ‘peoples.’ Every individual is an expression of the whole realm of nature, a unique action of the total universe.”
Ahhh yes! I love Alan Watts and I’m familiar with that particular lecture. He is one of several of my “dead mentors” whose work lives on—and moves me to know myself more deeply and come forth more boldly.
Fun fact side story: Alan Watts lived most of his life about three houses down from mine. Every time I walk the paths near my house (and share the pictures in my daily haikus), I imagine him and Huxley walking these same paths years ago.
I’m a big Aurelius and Epictetus fan as well. While I loved Meditations, I think I enjoyed The Manual even more.
This is beautiful, Daniel. Thank you. 🙏

Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus are 2 others.
